WHAT MAKES OXFORD A GREAT PLACE TO VIST?
Are you looking for a place where you can settle down and raise a family? Are looking for a good environment for your kids, where they can grow and learn? Well, here at Stigall cooperation we know the perfect place for you and your family. Where is this perfect place you ask? This perfect place is located in Oxford, Ohio. The history of Oxford has always been intertwined with the history of Miami University. The idea of having Oxford as a “college township” began in the year of 1803, which was mostly filled with wildness at the time. Miami University was founded in 1809 and after a year later, the Village of Oxford was laid out and the first residents of oxford bought lots. The village of oxford was incorporated by 1830, with a population of over 700. The village adopted a charter government in 1961 and in a decade later the town of oxford became a full fledge city. Originally Miami University’s nickname was the Miami Redskins, but it was changed to the Miami Redhawks in 1997, which cause some controversy. Miami University is the second oldest liberal arts educational institution in Ohio. Miami University is well known for development of the McGuffey Readers by W.H. McGuffey, which began publication in 1836. The six readers were based on landmarks of world literature that had good basic values.
Now since you know how oxford came to be you’re probably wondering what makes this place so special? One reason is we have a couple of famous people who were born around the oxford are Steven Spielberg, who is a film director/producer created films like E.T. and Jaws. That’s right we have Steven Spielberg born near Oxford. R.L. Stine, an author that writes horror fiction stories. Wes Craven, who is a film director and producer created films such as Scream and Nightmare on Elm St.
What a another reason why oxford is amazing place to visit well we have a lot of restaurants and bars so if your looking for place to have fun then we have some of the best place like Brickstreet and 45 East Bar and Grill which if you click here you can learn more about them. We also have a great education system here in Oxford, where you kids can get the best education as possible we have Talawanda High School, which benefits from Miami University because students are able to take classes with a state grant covering tuitions, fees, and textbook expenses. Talawanda Schools Mission Statement: to ensure that all students succeed by providing quality program and instruction, engaging our stakeholders and maintaining fiscal responsibility. How are your kids going to get anywhere within this world without a great educational system, here in Oxford we have best and that what you’re kids need.
